Hi, I’m Mary Cash. I’d like to welcome you to my little place on the web. Here, I hope to share my love of writing and the creative process with you. I love how writing leads me to discover new ideas and gives me a better understanding of myself and the world. Reading someone else’s writing often takes me on magical adventures and to new worlds. The beauty and clarity of words are amazing to me. I’m hoping that, over time, I can create a safe, comfortable place for others who love writing, and we can meet here to learn and share.
The nitty-gritty about me – I’m a retired college educator; I’ve taught both online and in-the-classroom college English, spent eight years working as an instructional designer, and spent a short stint as an online librarian. Besides still teaching a class or two each semester, I’ve been pushing through my fears to try my hand at writing fiction. It’s been a combination of fun, frustration, and a lot of work, but I’ve been making some headway with showing instead of telling. Some day I may actually finish my mystery novel.
My interest in creativity and the creative process led me to get certified as a Kaizen-Muse Creativity Coach. I have a Master’s degree in Library and Information Science from Southern Connecticut State University, a Master’s degree in English Studies from the University of Minnesota-Duluth, and BA degrees in Journalism and Psychology from the University of Northern Colorado. In addition to my academic work, I’ve enriched my life through courses on journaling, fiction writing, blogging, art journaling and the tarot.
